Well, when you compare this urn box to a prettier pet crematorium box that will easily cost you at least $100 or $200, you really can't compare. For what you get - and the price - it's pretty nice. It's pretty basic, but sometimes it's just what you're looking for. My 10lb cats' ashes fit in easily, although I had to reshape them a bit as they were packaged 20lbs wider and I had to trim them down a bit. The front of the drawer is ONLY for inserting a photo. Behind the photo is a solid wall of the crate. The back of the box also opens and you place the ashes inside. The other three sides are completely closed. It comes with two small silver metal screws that you can use to seal the back (you only need one) but it closes fairly securely so I didn't see the need for a screw at all. The grain is fine and the finish is fine. However, if you wish, you can easily paint it any other color. There is a strip of plastic film on the front where the photo is placed to protect your photo. Now my kitten's ashes can be placed on the shelf along with his beautiful photo. It's MUCH better than the crematorium can (although nice) as it still looked like a tin can on my shelf.
