I have a lot of experience making box beds so I know foam products that are pressed and vacuum sealed and then expand when opened. how the chair looks out of the box and when you remove the plastic. You'll notice that the so-called ruffled foam is still sticking together. Normally the foam will start to inflate immediately. When it didn't I almost put it back in the box and returned it because once inflated it will never come back in the box as the previous reviewer said, that's his/her problem. Foamed products have a "Date of Birth” and a "Date of Issue” which means typically 3 to 6 months after the product has been manufactured and sealed the product must be blown within that time or it will expire and either not expand or stretch wrong. .I followed the instructions which I put a picture in because someone said they were awful. I felt it was easy enough to understand. We opened at 3pm, followed directions and washed the lid inside out as instructed. Photo 3 shows what the chair looked like after following the initial instructions. He started to take shape but didn't inflate to 100%. After 17 hours the stool has continued to expand, the foam is not as hard as it was at first. Keep in mind that most foams react to ambient temperatures so it was very cold when delivered meaning the rolled foam was hard. As it "warmed up" with the temperature of my house, it began to soften. We will be waiting a full 24-48 hours before showing my son because as you can see in the fourth picture the back is not fully extended and gives my 2 year old NO support when he is sitting in it now. I also agree to get a larger size. The seat cushion itself feels solid and has significant padding, but I wouldn't use the word 'soft' to describe this chair. The zipper broke as seen in the photo and as for the detachment, I figured people would dramatize about loose fibers after washing. However, since I am wearing a white shirt, it was difficult to see the extent of the hair loss. I noticed that there were fibers on my smartwatch that allowed me to look deeper and there was lint everywhere. The case is very soft, like a stuffed animal.
