The bottom plate of this stand is broken. on the left half about 7 inches from the left. completely through. but assembly was easy, and after the base was screwed onto a slightly larger board, it proved fairly stable, if not a little wobbly, for the larger of our two cats. Materials and assembly method are good. the "fur" is really soft and the crampons rub against it, the sisal-wrapped posts are mounted really solidly with no loose rope. Aside from the fact that it came in an oversized box that was too big for the box the item came in, this could have something to do with the damage. It may seem that the side machine "hammock" is weak, it is not a solid metal ring with a well-tailored hammock, I was surprised, as I was skeptical of the design. it was worth the price even with the damage, i didn't want to put the former federal driver through the hassle of returning and second delivery and the hassle of putting everything back in the box, i fixed the base and then some now skinny. something else considering buying this or similar, it's only a few inch and 1/4 screws and the base is bigger due to the higher stability. The stand hits me about the waist, I'm 5ft 11in / not as wide as it looks, all over the place of a two shelf bookcase you can get at any brick and mortar store The item shown is two tone, the item received was still the same in a light beige hue, with this almost velor soft fur material instead of the carpet that i was expecting. cats LOVE to rub it. after i contacted amazon and got a solution to my small damage problem, all parties were satisfied. the product itself is surprisingly good quality compared to my expectations I would buy my favorite cat furniture again if the need arises or the cat population increases or we move to a more spacious home.
