Review on πŸ’½ Corsair Flash Survivor Stealth 64GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive - Black (CMFSS3B-64GB) by Chris Quinto

Good quality, small quirks in design

After some searching, this is probably the most secure EDC flash drive you can find. Mainly because the interface components are truly 100% sealed and housed in an all-metal case. Waterproof, dustproof, shockproof and dropproof. In terms of physical integrity, I'd say this is the pinnacle of flash drives. There have been several reviews of people ripping off a flash drive after removing the aluminum cover, and at this point I'd say it's up to you because once you "bare" it, it's no different from anyone other flash drive with plastic case. Put the cover back on and I'm sure you could use it as a lame beach ball and you'd be fine. There are many other smaller/compact options that offer the same level of durability. We use a few at my work and they seem to be able to take a beating aside from being too small to start with. However, their fatal flaw, especially for EDCs, is that the USB interface is at least partially open. Even on flash drives where the USB can be plugged into a flash drive, it's still vulnerable to water or dust. In terms of electronics, I would rate it as above average. The speeds seem to match the advertised quite high speed, which for me as a secure document device/offline password manager is very good. I can't vouch for working with him in the media because I don't. My two complaints about this: - I don't understand the reasoning behind the rubber rings at the top and bottom of the canister. Just stick it in and take it out of your pocket once is enough to get rid of those suckers instantly. I carry it on my keychain and end up stuffing the contents into one of my pockets, so I decided to leave it on as it looks thinner anyway. - The key fob hole is too small. I wanted to fit it with a Lucky Line cable ring to further secure the integrity of my EDC. Unfortunately, the hole is a few millimeters too small, forcing me to settle for a Chinese Lucky Line equivalent.
