I don't know why it's only advertised as a beach umbrella. I bought a black travel scarf. I spent 10 days traveling in Europe and had many uses. On the plane it was a beautiful blanket. On the outside, it kept my shoulders warm when I was cold and shaded my shoulders from the sun when it was too hot. It even protected my hair in light rain. I've worn it everywhere: either as a shawl around my neck and shawl around my shoulders, or on the strap of a bag. I'm allergic to cigarette smoke so as I passed a smoker I pulled up my scarf to cover my nose. One night my husband and I went to a black tie party. I was cold in my little black dress. I brought a scarf to cover my shoulders and it looked very pretty in the photos. He washed himself well in the sink and hung up the faucet. It will get darker when washing - do not wash with light-colored clothes.
