I didn't know these existed and a year ago I ordered a pair of monitor stands from the same company. - I didn't like the usual style of a table lamp with two arms, and the price for a good one seemed silly. These side pivoting designs seemed less likely to get in the way and sink in on weak springs etc. The only problem with the monitor arm version is that the air arm part is designed for very heavy monitors, so even with a heavy mic, the weight is not enough, do everything but stay on top. - They still work because you can raise and lower the mic either on the main clamp stand or with the mic's own little hinge where it connects to the mount. They work fine. However, I really wanted this pneumatic arm to be available to guests and when I needed an extra mic in my small studio I came across this Vivo mic stand! It just arrived and it's fantastic! All materials are durable and the hand movement is reliable. This is a great design and great value compared to a typical high-end mic boom. The only thing you might need is an adapter to attach the microphone to this mount; I had to use a small bolt specially made from my box of random gear to attach the Rode Pod mic to this stand; it is not in the box. Otherwise please order!
