Review on πŸŒ€ DeLonghi America Portable Evaporative Cooler - White by Debbie Rossi

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works as expected, 8 degree temperature difference

I use it to cool a small work area in my rooftop garage. The exhaust air temperature is approximately 8 degrees lower than the room temperature (measured with a Kestrel professional weather instrument). This means that if the attic is 85 degrees, the exhaust air temperature is 77 degrees, a very pleasant difference. With only 60 watts of power required (significantly less power than an air conditioner, which makes a difference since my house runs on photovoltaic solar panels), this is an economical way to cool such a small space. If necessary, it can also be easily converted to castors. I found the fan sound good and not too loud for my attic. I live in a high desert area in the Pacific Northwest. Summer temperatures typically range from the 70s to the mid 90s. The relative humidity outside is usually between 20 and 25%. I've read some reviews from others saying they live in an arid climate, but the device doesn't work for them - if it does, check the indoor humidity. In our house, the humidity is often 40-45% indoors and 20% outdoors. Humidity has a major impact on the performance of a evaporative cooler. At 50% and more humidity, such coolers make little difference. Where I use this swamp cooler - in the attic in the garage - the relative humidity is around 20-25% and it works fine.
