Bought a pair of super cheap wooden probes. You can read reviews. Different moisture levels throughout the board. I've made a few wood projects that I thought air dried enough, but they weren't. I'm actually sitting next to a giant maple cookie from my son's first home. I took a leap into selling projects and creating custom projects. A split can result in you losing a customer and never receiving a referral. The amount of this counter may cost me two projects, but it will most likely last me for years. I'm not kiln drying yet, so getting accurate moisture readings is important. I also have a small sawmill that I bought. I am now able to measure the moisture content of the untreated live edge wood planks I sell. From my research, this is one of only two or three brands made for sawing machines and has been for many years. It's hard to beat their reputation. I just made a walnut cookie table that a friend says is selling on Etsy for $1,000. He's had a consistent 10% reading through it all. The lumber in my stacks also reads reliably. I'm so glad I made my decision.
