Review on VENTION HDMI High speed v2.1 with Ethernet 19M/19M - 3 m. by Anastazja Olejnik ᠌

I was deceived! The product does not correspond to the description at all.

This cable is three times cheaper than the Ultra High Speed HDMI certified cable, but I ended up paying twice and wasting a lot of time figuring out why my HDMI wasn't working. When you connect the cable to an HDMI 2.0 source, everything works, which is misleading, because. Details of my story. There was a working link: 1. LG OLED C9 TV with 4xHDMI 2.1 ports. 2. PC with RTX 2070 with HDMI 2.0 3. noname HDMI 2.0 cable 4K@60Hz resolution worked with HDR enabled. Having ordered an RTX 3080 that supports HDMI 2.1, I wanted to enjoy the delights of 4K@120Hz + 12bit color + HDR + G-Sync mode. This requires the bandwidth that HDMI 2.1 provides, which is why this cable was ordered. Since it came to me earlier than the RTX 3080, the existing noname cable was replaced by this Vention and everything started up on the existing bundle, i. E. the same 4K@60Hz + HDR over HDMI 2.0. RTX 3080 arrived, installed in PC and connected to TV with new cable - no picture on TV. Disabling HDR causes the signal to appear but with constant blinking and loss of image. Only rolling back the resolution on the PC to 2560x1440@60Hz with 8-bit color made it possible to get a picture. Because Since the cable worked beforehand, there was a suspicion that something was wrong with the settings of either the TV or the PC. Was busy all day diagnosing the HDMI handshake while plugging in the cable using the diagnostic menu on the TV, trying different settings on the PC. I studied a bunch of similar complaints from people on the Internet. By the end of the day, the bottom line was that all the complainers had cables that claimed to be HDMI 2.1 but didn't have the special Ultra High Speed HDMI certification. Those who bought cables with this certification reported that everything worked. What can I say . I ordered the same cable, which is three times more expensive from a German company. Everything started up without problems at maximum settings: 4K@120Hz + 12 bit color + HDR + G-Sync. Tested for several hours - the picture is stable, nothing disappears, etc.

Pros
  • Fabric braid, metal plugs. Looks premium. But there is a huge drawback - it's not an HDMI 2.1 cable. See general description below.
Cons
  • The cable does NOT provide HDMI 2.1 despite promises. See below. Also, the cable is NOT certified as Ultra High Speed HDMI. all you have is the manufacturer's assurance that everything will be ok. Actually this cable does not work on HDMI 2.1!
