I've been using this product for about a week. The dog likes to be outside when the weather is cool and I like to be inside but I need to hear when he barks loudly. Although not intended for outdoor use, I put the transmitter in a Sterlite plastic box next to it and it works great! Even in the rain. I've searched and searched and haven't found another product that works on both devices on battery power. The battery lasts overnight. Near an outlet, the devices will work while the batteries are being charged; If not, plug in a USB portable charger to keep working while charging. The battery charge indicators seem a little quirky. When both devices are off and charging: The transmitter indicator will change from RED to NOT READY after the battery is fully charged. The receiver indicator light will change from RED to GREEN FLASHING GREEN after the battery is fully charged. Temperature sensor off/at least 10°F colder. It's ok, it's easy to add 10. Too bad there's no way to turn off the vibration feature. It's great to wake me up at night, but other than that it's unnecessary and a bit annoying at times. Rather, I missed a night light function. It's easy to accidentally turn it on and not notice. Of course, this drains the battery faster. The dog can be in his garden from any side of the house. I can carry the receiver around the house with me. The range through walls is good enough. A beep will indicate when I'm out of range (large yard and house). The portability of these devices is just what I needed. Works particularly well for us. Since an older dog is sedentary, it will not go out of reach. He barks because he is working or needs help.
