Make no mistake about Nikon

I bought this camera for my mother's upcoming birthday. What made me buy it is the fact that my niece has a Nikon Coolpix L20 (I think) and she has always taken good pictures. I also bought my wife and daughter a Nikon Coolpix L22 and neither of them complained once. Both used (combined) five cameras from different manufacturers (one of which was Olympus) and nothing compared to the quality and ease of use of these Nikon Coolpix series cameras. These are fantastic little cameras. I tested it when I first got it to make sure it worked well and that's how it should be. This model has better optical zoom and more megapixels than previous models and is priced to outperform many other cameras in size. I would buy another one without hesitation. The video is also of very good quality. I took my wife's camera to a concert last month and the video and sound quality was really good. I was surprised to say the least as it was a rock concert and I thought the sound would be distorted. No, good picture and sound, and that was on the L22, so I can only imagine the L26 being even better with better optical zoom. It uses two AA batteries. The whole family uses Duracell batteries which will save you a lot of money over time. Memory cards for the Coolpix series are also getting pretty cheap, so don't worry about expensive cards. Did you want a digital camera or just wanted to upgrade what you have? Obtain. Thinking of a gift for someone, even someone who has never used a digital camera? But this. It's not too difficult as some might find, and they'll love it. I have bought an Olympus (digital) just for myself for the last 13 years BUT when it comes time to replace my DSL camera with a newer model it will be the Nikon that replaces it.
