Review on Sheri Best Friends: Original Calming Donut Cat and Dog Bed - Guaranteed Comfort for Your Furry Friends! by Clay Elmer

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I have changed my rating. They are durable and my dog loves them.

I bought two of these (medium) and loved them to this day when I had to wash one of them because my puppy got it dirty. So, for those of you wondering what it's like to clean one of these things, here's my take on it. The largest dog bed has a zip so you can wash the cover separately, but the medium and small do not have a zip. That means you have to stuff the entire 30-inch dog bed in the washing machine. Front loader owners say it works for them. I have a large top loading spa washing machine and when set to Extra Large Load the water does not completely cover the dog bed. Also, the dog bed tends to get stuck under the stirrer. When the agitator spins, it doesn't tip the dog bed over, just pushes it. I add detergent and BORAX to disinfect the dog bed. I had to manually lower the couch underwater so it could soak up the soapy water. I ran the machine on a "normal" cycle, hoping that would at least shake the dog bed up well, then set the machine to "gentle" (warm water) a few minutes later because I feared my agitator would interrupt. I just want to say what a horrible mistake the manufacturer made when they didn't put a zipper on a medium sized dog bed. I can't be sure about washing the dog bed this way. These dog beds are EXPENSIVE so why not add a zipper for easy cleaning? The medium size (30 inches) must have a zipper! :-(Update June 2, 2019 I've had two of these for a long time. I noticed that the manufacturer added a zipper for the medium size! This should be a welcome addition. I still have the two medium sizes I bought ( no zipper) and they are in good condition so far I have washed them in a regular top load washing machine and it's a bit of a hassle as they are quite large (medium size) and it's basically a spin cycle that finishes them off makes cleans. But they come out clean (and I use borax to sanitize) and my dog has never tried to chew them and loves it. Remember NOT to put them in the dryer so I've upped my rating.
