I was hoping to use these in combination with a PCI-e card and patch cords that don't reach the back corner where the card fits. Unfortunately only one worked. The male portion (which houses the pins) is narrower than the typical blue connector that comes with USB 3 cables, meaning extra care is needed not to bend the pins when connecting. There is a notch on the female end that should be there to indicate that you don't know where the plug goes, so you'll need to look carefully to make sure the missing pin lines up with the empty hole. Maybe my 2 stars are generous. Three and a half if both cables worked. Do yourself a favor - don't accept that it takes you over an hour to fix a defective cable to use it with a new component - choose a different cable.
