If I knew that, I wouldn't need to buy a meat thermometer at all... But I digress. This thing works just like any other. turn it on Stick the needle in the flesh. Voila. The benefit of this particular model is that the cord is long enough to allow the device to be positioned outside of the grill, oven or pan while measuring the temperature of the food. This makes baking and roasting much more precise. My electric range is notoriously erratic, so this type of product is a must for me if I want even a little bit of control over the cooking process.
