Cheap wood held together mainly by the tension of the screws.
The shoe rack arrived with a slightly broken slat due to a broken wooden pin. The top of one of the "handles" was also spinning freely as if loose. I was able to reattach the broken bar and the tension of the screws and each end piece was just enough to hold it in place but definitely very cheap build quality. The second rod came off the other shelf the same way. Both skirting boards where the screws go in, the torque when turning the screws made them pop out of the frame. Again, once I tightened everything up, the tension seemed to hold it together, but I didn't expect this thing to carry any significant weight, and it made a negative first impression.
