"YOU KNOW CHRISTMAS IS COMING WHEN MOM HAS A SECOND DEGREE BURN" . . . Yeah, I'm known for getting burned when baking. We won't talk about the year I caught a tube cake pan between my forearms as it slipped out of my hands while I was removing it from the oven. My husband got tired of being sent to buy burn cream and gauze so he gifted me with these gloves before the Christmas 2016 baking season.Yeah, they're a bit bulky and they take some getting used to but they're AMAZING! Preheat the oven but forgot you left a cookie sheet inside? No problem, reach in a pull it out. Need to change rack positions but your oven is pre-heated to 435? Not an issue, just grab and move them. Need to remove the chicken pot pie you baked in your cast iron skillet? Grab the skillet handle and go! They give you a firm grip when removing cookie sheets, cake pans, and skillets so that you'll not be juggling them and catching them with your forearms.You won't be using these while doing things that require dexterity - such as knife work - as they are a bit big and bulky but, frankly, that's not what they're designed to do. Both sides of the gloves are heat resistant so it doesn't matter which one you put on what hand. And many times I'll grab the glove and use it like a pot holder instead of slipping it on.So, now we're heading into the 2017 holiday season and I'm back here getting ready to buy two more pairs of these gloves to give as gifts.
