Review on Enhanced UCO Original Candle Lantern Value Pack: 3 Candles + Storage Bag for Unmatched Convenience by April Bailey

Works As Designed By: Candlesticks

I purchased the UCO Aluminum Candle Lantern over 4 years ago but have had no reason to use it. Then the weather report promised a strong storm. So I pulled out the flashlight. I had to read the manual twice to fully understand how to set it up and use it. But after reading it, it made sense and worked well. The top part that goes up was a little difficult to make. I'm not sure the guides were as smooth as they could be. But it opened without much pressure. I marked the time when I lit the candle. Nine hours later it was bedtime, so I blew out the flame. I lit it again the next morning and it burned for another 2+ hours before burning out completely. A spring inside pushed the candle up as the top melted and burned. So the candle lasted longer than the estimated time and worked as expected. I disassembled the base to install a new candle after the lantern cooled. There was some wax on top and in the tube that holds the candle. I threw away most of it, not realizing how it might affect the performance of the next candle. She returned with no problems. The candle provided enough light, but it wasn't enough for me to easily read a book next to it. Of course, this is a small candle. It's designed as a camping candle but I've used it around the house. (UCO makes a 3 candle lantern which I'm sure will produce more light.) Despite the lower output I gave it 5 stars for its run time, no waxy mess and the fact that it worked. as intended. By the way, my base said "Made in the USA". Apparently the company switched to foreign production after I received mine.
