This is absolutely the best backpack I've ever bought and I've had a pair of Jansports which didn't last long either. I bought the first one last fall and it has lasted a lifetime. school year and still looking very good as it was being used by a teenager who was too lazy to go to his locker but would rather be lugging around a bunch of books and paper (get it!). This means that it was always absolutely full and very heavy. At the end of the school year, every zip was still in good working order, every zip was still attached, the plastic parts of the shoulder strap weren't broken and still worked perfectly, and with all the abuse it took, there was only a small frayed corner at the bottom, but it wasn't the backpack at all. This backpack could have been great for this school year but I thought we lost it over the summer so I checked my last order and bought another one for just a penny more than last year's bag. As long as the quality stays the same, I will buy until the last child leaves school, so not until 2028!
