I read many reviews before buying. There are hundreds of them on Revane alone. I've watched a lot of YouTube videos made by radio amateurs. After receiving this radio and reading the instructions, I found most of the negative reviews to be overly critical. Some of the people who write these reviews build radios and are overly critical in their critical opinion. For those looking for a great radio that has many features not found in many other small pocket radios and has more than adequate reception then this is the radio for you. I'm glad I went against my instincts by believing a lot of negativity about the reception. Also, I found many of the reviews funny as many people say the radio is too complicated. Take about 30 minutes to read the instructions and you'll understand the nuances this radio offers that set it apart from many other radios in its class. For home use the speaker is perfect, the sound is great, oh it's not a boombox so don't crank it up, let's be serious. Sitting at your desk at work or at home playing around with a speaker is more than enough for personal use. All of the AM stations I look for sound bright and vibrant. I live in a metropolitan area so I understand there may be some issues in areas away from strong broadcast signals, but people living in remote areas will always have long-distance reception problems no matter what radio they are using. . Aside from all the interesting tweaks you can make and the great finish, the charger is well built. Overall, I would 100% recommend this radio. Of course I'll update this review over time if I change my mind, but at the time of unboxing I'm very happy with the choice I've made.
