I bought this gate for our 11 year old cairn terrier (not a showjumper, he's starting to have age issues) so we can barricade him in our master bedroom (guy stays there all the time ). still time on your fleece bed). He CAN jump on the couch and such, but he WILL NOT jump over the gate. Our previous goals caused a lot of shin splints, trips and falls, and swearing and pain. In any case, the gate is made of untreated "natural" wood; I think you could color it if you want, but why? It's natural, it's beautiful, it's sleek and it really blends in with the environment. We have a white door with a white door frame; The rug underneath is almond-colored, so yes, it goes really well together! It's easy to adjust and install (like any dog gate; adjust it to fit the width of the door) and has enough room for both dogs and all 5 cats when the gate is open. Our core, "Barney", has NOT had an accident since he was barricaded in "his" bedroom and our large dog "Ripley" (mixed breed, 25lbs) gets through the gate with ease, and even HE can't jump over them. this thing and this girl is vertical! Heck, even the fattest cats (literally need wheels to get around the house, yes it's fat) can crawl through and jump over the gate, strangle us humans at night, and visit the dogs while they're barricaded. ANYWAY I was pleased to find this product - VERY affordable, shipped quickly, looks VERY LOVELY! Subject: the DOOR itself, it has a latch in the form of a pin; Yes, it might break someday, be careful with it, don't fight the damn thing. when does it break It's ok, go to any hardware store, get one of those hook and eye fasteners, pin it; Phew, fixed. Anyone complaining about broken door hardware, folks? Have you ever replaced something broken in your life?! Pretty simple solution! Great goals, happily controlled dogs, fat cats, intact shins. What's not to like?
