Review on ⏰ Sangean RCR-22 Atomic Clock Radio: FM-RDS/AM/Aux-in Digital Tuning, Silver, One Size - Ultimate Timekeeping Experience by Jim Cronin

Revainrating 1 out of 5

This radio is advertised as an atomic clock radio. .

This radio is advertised as an atomic clock radio. No, that is not so. For those who don't know, an atomic clock is a clock capable of receiving a signal that is broadcast as a radio signal from a transmitter in Boulder, Colorado. This signal has the current time and date tracked by an atomic clock. The idea is that the radio receives this signal several times a day so the time on the watch is always current and accurate so you never have to set it. This watch is NOT receiving a signal. I had it for two days and tried to get a signal every hour but never got it. There are three other clocks with atomic clocks in my house, so I know that the signal is being received in my house. I called Sangean and spoke to their technician and he confirmed that the clock radio does NOT work like an atomic clock. He told me to set it up to sync with RDS radio. This works, but the problem is that the time is only synced when the radio is on, while the atomic clock function works when the radio is on and tuned to an RDS station. A California technician confirmed that he was trying to pick up an atomic clock signal on one of the RCR-22 radios in his office and it was NOT working. Apparently they know it doesn't work as advertised. He said he emailed management and said they would need to replace the motherboard in the radio for it to work as advertised. DO NOT buy it because it does not work as advertised.

Pros
