After reading some reviews about remanufactured cartridges, I tried to recycle my old X25 cartridges by refilling them from a local supplier who was considered reputable/reliable . Although the seller made every effort to recycle the cartridge, the toner was of much lower quality and I have returned it several times due to unsatisfactory printing. The bottom line for me was that it wasn't worth my time and miles to keep coming back and having them tweak the cartridge - they never made it work like the original. (Prints are not dark, fonts look faded, etc.) So even if a genuine toner cartridge is 1.5-2 times more expensive than a remanufactured one, I think it's worth insisting on using the genuine. My documents look much more professional. Canon allows their cartridges to be recycled (they pay the postage). While it's a bit of a hassle to give it back to them, it feels like a green trail. I'm much happier that I went back to the originals.
