The light is attached to a small plastic base that is attached to the surface with double-sided mounting tape. This allows you to rotate the light to optimize the illuminated area. However, the magnet is rather weak. I probably knock the flashlight off the base every time I use it (it's in a tight spot where I often have to rest my hands). But when the light hits the stone floor, it is not yet broken or damaged. The light is bright (strong) and the three dimmer settings are noticeably different (hooray!).
