This compact camera takes very good pictures. The zoom is absolutely remarkable, and while the quality doesn't measure up to top-end DSLRs and expensive telephoto lenses, it doesn't fall far behind. I've seen subtle (to most) vertical stripes in some photos, which I've read might be the "noise" version of some cameras, but only if you enlarged your photo using an image editor. The rest of the photos look almost perfect. Especially for a compact camera. Keep in mind that it is not photographed in RAW and the quality can only be so good. Based on my experience in publishing and graphic arts, I am aware of the downsides in terms of photo quality, but due to the nature of this gadget it's easy to overlook them. . Zooming and focusing is slow at times, which can be annoying. And when recording, it records the sound of the lens moving as you adjust the zoom. My suggestion is to set the zoom level before you start filming and not adjust it so you don't get this feedback in the finished film. Or. Shoot really loud events ;) The processing speed on the memory card I have is ok (some reviewers said it's slow, but this may be due to the write speed on the card). In general I am satisfied. I have an old DSLR that is showing its age and I couldn't buy a new one. So I decided on an "amplified" compact camera with amazing zoom that would be convenient to carry or travel with. A very good buy if you have realistic expectations and are buying something suitable for your activity level.
