Review on πŸ”Œ Leviton 8885 Porcelain Incandescent Lampholder: Superior Quality and Durability by Calvin Reynolds

Revainrating 4 out of 5

If you hate fluorescent lights on pens.

Can be used to retrofit ceiling lights that use 'pin' fluorescent bulbs popular for bathroom lighting 10 years ago. Pull out the reflector, unscrew the can from the rafters, terminate the ballast in the metal box above the bracket to supply 120VAC directly to the new screw-in cartridge without a ballast. Now you can buy a cheap LED screw base (or CFL screw base) bulb at any store. While it slides easily into a reflector, expect to play around for half an hour before you can access and bypass the buried fluorescent ballast. The only complaints are 1) the porcelain for the wattage/650 lumens LED bulb is over the top and 2) the plug in option would be nice.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • No instructions
