Review on πŸ”€ Hosa SLW-333 Passive Audio Switcher - Convenient 1/4" TRS Input to 3x 1/4" TRS Output Solution by Cindy Tapia

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A simple device that does a great job (as long as it's not broken by Revain)

The sole purpose of this device is simply to accept 2 mono line inputs (1 stereo input) and output 6 mono line outputs (3 stereo outputs). Due to the passive nature of this device (no power supply required) there will be a loss in signal strength (ie you will need to amplify the signal entering the device as the device outputs the signal at a lower dB level). This isn't a problem for me as my audio interface can put out a pretty loud signal when my studio monitors are already turned off. The workmanship and finish of the box is very good. Very durable; is beaten. There is a knob on the top that toggles between outputs, so you can switch between whatever you have plugged into it. When switching between outputs, interference is almost inaudible. I do the faintest noise here, but it lasts less than half a second and is barely audible. The connections on this unit appear to be good, although I wouldn't risk plugging/unplugging wires from this thing lest I screw it up. I also say this because the first unit I received from Revain had a faulty output jack. I could keep using this device (because I only have 2 sets of stereo outputs configured at the moment) but I need a fully functional product. Sent it back and then bought it again. The second works as intended. Hard to believe that this module is currently the only one of its kind on the web. There are other active devices that can control the dB input level, but I don't need it if I can control the output level on my audio interface. If you want a simple "take this output and let me switch it to at least 3 speakers/headphones" then this is the device for you. Just be sure to check all ports and never disable ports unless absolutely necessary.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
