I bought it for a trip abroad and used it daily for shore excursions and day trips. This size works well for daily supplies of snacks, camera batteries, travel umbrella, etc. I bought a small travel wallet with an integrated ring, which I attached to a "key holder" in the backpack for added security. Lots of internal pockets are unnecessary and only add weight when using a handbag with a backpack. The outer water bottle pocket is useless for right-handers. I slung the pack over my left shoulder so I could tip it onto my right side without detaching it and access the contents with my right hand. As a result, the water bottle "dangles" in the water bottle holder. Even when carrying a backpack on your back, the water bottle "dangles" and falls out. The first time I used it with a water thermos it fell out crushing the bottle and breaking the cap making it unavailable for the rest of the trip. Even disposable plastic water bottles fell out. The bag either needs water bottle holders on both sides so that at least one can be used, or even better an elastic fastening strap to keep the water bottle securely in place. The external water bottle pocket was the only thing that appealed to me about this backpack, but it has proven almost useless when I've been using it for real business. A serious design flaw for me. Good safety features but useless bottle holder.
