Good, but. on dogs

I have a 14 lb min pin. She often does the whole 6-8 mile hike when I go. However; Last week she suddenly didn't move when we hit the trail, not sure if it was fear or concern of something ahead/behind us on the trail (we didn't encounter anything weird) that I ended up putting her into your normal backpack and leave an opening for them at the top. It was. well, about halfway through the hike, she wanted to get off and left. But I swore I would find an option for such cases when I returned home. After HOURS of looking at all the cheap, mediocre options. I found this backpack. Price tag, steep, I'll give it to him. This made me hesitate. It arrived yesterday and I still think the price is a bit high and I think it needs a little adjustment. I think $100 would be good value for a backpack, $140 with adjustments. It comes with useless poles. You should help provide structure to the pack while your dog is in it so the pack doesn't sit on top of it. Great in theory, in practice it takes up valuable space on the "bigger" dog and they don't stay in the loops they are in, they just slip and get stuck in the pack, which is sure to be the case over time will simply rub holes in expensive packaging. So for me they are just garbage. For people with dogs < 10lbs/on the smaller side this can be great. My dog is big so she can sit down and see perfectly from the opening and she is Ming-Ping, she doesn't mind when it comes to blankets, she's basically a sandworm when it comes to blankets : ) There is a leash connecting below, in the pocket. I wish it was a few inches longer, I will use it fully extended and it leaves her no room to turn around and I know she will get tired of sitting in one place/position for a long time. Time. I use the Easy Walk harness while she is in it (front/chest strap). DO NOT use a harness with a collar. If your dog jumps or pack breaks, you will absolutely NOT forgive yourself if they get caught on the collar. Spending the extra money on a good harness isn't worth the risk when you get this pack and I would recommend for dogs over 10lbs a front leash harness, a harness with a snap in the back allows even less range of motion on the leash . There are all kinds of pockets and places for things. BUT anything you pack in your backpack takes up space for your dog. So ultimately, this backpack is not for serious hiking with a dog inside. I pack my padded first-aid kit and a rolled-up raincoat into a wet bag. The only other thing that fits in the pack is a couple of thinner ice packs for hot spring trips/summer so we don't overheat each other. There's a bag in her section, the perfect size for two. There are two water bottle holders, one on each side, but again they cut into the dog area so cannot be used. I have a waist pack that I will use for other essentials when I go on longer hikes. If she doesn't go, the trek is over. I can't risk not having other important things when we leave. This is definitely not the best option for serious camping trips unless you have other people to lug some super-essential gear. This is great for walks in places where dogs aren't allowed, short day hikes, and the like.
