I have several cats and despite the fact that they know best, they share a litter box. Along with the drinking fountain, I've had them increase their water intake and sometimes their clumps are huge and other times they "cling" together and get really heavy. I don't use this lightweight cat litter because it's just prohibitively expensive. After other shovels made of plastic of different quality bent, twisted, flung the filling into the air and sometimes broke. I decided it was time for an update. This thing is basically a shovel and has a nice foam handle that doesn't dig into your skin like plastic edges do. The holes/slots are large enough to allow dirt to drain quickly, but small enough to hold clumps in, even if they occasionally fall apart. It is strong enough to never twist or bend. Because I can "dig" deeper and faster, it takes less time to clean the tray. I would recommend to all cat owners.
