I needed an electrical connection to the brake light switch for the trailer brake control unit. My problem was that I have air brakes and an air pressure sensor is used to turn on the brake lights. I connected a switch between the brake pedal and the steering column. I then connected a 12V DC fusible wire from the ignition switch through this switch and then to the controller. When the brake pedal is depressed it sends 12VDC to the controller which activates the trailer brakes. Airbrake-activated controls cost about $350. I got the same results for $13.
