From the edge. After sitting in an air vent for a year or two before blowing out, they're nearly impossible to remove as there's no way to get your fingers around the bulb. A friend once solved this problem for me by putting tape on the bottom with the ends sticking out and then carefully unscrewing it. Some par 20 pears have a slightly longer neck and are 3 3/8 inches high instead of 3 inches and this solves the problem. These bulbs have a nice warm white light and are dimmable.
