I have a 7.1 system with 16 gauge wire that goes to all 7 of my speakers. The way these connectors grip the bare wire requires the wire to be fanned out and then the connector screwed in. The problem is that 16 gauge wire, and of course any wire less than 16 gauge, will pull straight out of the connector once twisted together. There just isn't enough thickness where the teeth of the fork grab the wire. I overcame this by twisting the end of the wire as usual to insert it into the connector pin and simply bending it into the banana plug. It still doesn't look like a good connection, but it's not easy to pull out, although with moderate effort it will do. If you are using 14 gauge or larger wire I would have no hesitation in buying these as they appear to be well made.
