Update: My initial review was harsh because the cases had a strong smell when I first opened them. Apparently you can do it with a material like this, the chemicals in it initially decompose in air, but this process is short-lived. The seller could have delayed shipping or sent the item in an open package but instead chose to complete the order and protect the item. works for me Now the smell is gone - it's been 2-3 days - I love these covers and am ordering more because eventually my dogs will burrow into them. They haven't done it yet though and the covers look MUCH better in the drawers than the old sheets I used. I love these slipcovers so much I buy them for both the sofa and the couch. I have two of these portable crib mattress covers that I use in my 38 x 24 dog crates. They're a bit long so not totally smooth, but they look great even with a few creases and they hold up really well. The problem is gas, an irresistible smell. Maybe a dead fish? I definitely wouldn't put a real baby in them and I will air them out for a few weeks before using them on dogs. As far as I can tell with bated breath they are stitched well - the elastic feels solid, the inside is a soft fabric that doesn't seem to slip much, and the fabric has good stretch. , not just on the outer elastic - just don't plan on using them right away.
