I bought this bag primarily for travel, my previous bag was a 2010 REI Trail 25. I chose this bag for its capacity and organized bag storage. I travel a lot for work and it's important to be organized when travelling. Pros: I like the size and shape of most zippered pockets, and the zippers are strong with zippers that are easy to grab even in cold weather. , wet hands or gloved hands. The large compartments easily fit a laptop, iPad and power supply unit. Cons: The configuration of the bag makes it difficult to store or install. With all the zippered storage pockets at the top of the bag, the top of the bag gets heavy and falls over when you pick the bag up and put it down. This arrangement also makes it difficult to put anything in the lower back pocket due to the elastic and nylon straps. This causes some items to get stuck when you try to grab them from the bottom pocket. This has happened to me so many times that the stitching/binding on me started to fall apart after just 4 months of use. If Northface wanted to fix this, they could swap the top and bottom storage pockets. The geometry of the backpack is long not wide, if you use it as a cary on it will protrude under any airplane seat you try to slide it under.
