I really didn't know what to expect when I bought these TV stands. I knew I needed something permanent that I could put an ice cold drink on without ruining it. I was pleasantly surprised when I received them. The table top is made of thick chipboard covered with laminate. They are easy to wash and appear durable. My only complaints are the same as other reviews - the table top is covered in plastic which was attached before the tray base was attached with screws and metal braces. To completely remove the plastic, you need to unscrew the brackets and remove the table top. I just cut the plastic as best I could. My second complaint is that there is a label under the plastic at the top that needs to be removed before using the TV tray. I was able to remove the sticker in one piece by removing it very slowly. There's no reason a manufacturer can't stick this sticker over the plastic and wrap the countertop in plastic after the lid has been screwed onto the base. Aside from those few minor complaints, these TV trays are exactly what I was looking for.
