Keeps my knees cool! c Cooling pads and external fans

My laptop is not overheating or not working; It's just too warm to use comfortably on your lap for long periods of time while plugged in. It's slightly cooler on battery power, but still uncomfortable. I took a risk that it would help and it paid off. This item not only keeps my knees warm but also cool. The name "Chill Pad" is no exaggeration in the name of this wonderful device. The chill pad is a bit small for my fairly large laptop (Dell Lattitude D800), but still works great. It's very light and thin. I wouldn't think twice about the extra weight or space when carrying it with a laptop. It's also very quiet. I can barely hear it in a quiet room, and it's no louder than a laptop fan (which seems to spin much less when there's a cooling pad underneath). This is a room with any background or white noise, forget it; you will never hear it. The fans pull air in from the top (between the stand and the laptop) and blow air out through the back of the cooling pad to your knees. However, it moves enough air that I don't even feel warm in my lap. The only thing I could do to make it a little better would be to make the USB/power cable shorter. Does it ever really take anyone to be 3 feet long? The extra cord just gets in the way even if you rolled it up, which of course I do. There is also a switch on the cable. It's kind of silly to even have a switch there. Why don't you turn that thing on if it's online? And if you really want to turn it off, it's certainly quicker and easier to unplug the cable (from a USB port on a laptop or from the power jack on a chill pad) than to fumble around trying to find the tiny plug and to manipulate the cord. But that's a pretty minor complaint about a useful device that has exceeded my expectations for its main function. It cools my laptop (and my laptop).

Pros

Cons
  • There are more interesting options.
