While not the most aesthetically pleasing product, it works great. After trying to find a metal replacement for our nickel reel seat, I finally had to buy the plastic version. Reason for three stars instead of five: 1. The plastic surface is matte and doesn't even come close to the matte black surface of our metal frame.2. The thing is too expensive. It probably cost $0.57 to make and maybe another $0.50 to pack and sell. Just understand what you are getting here. The good thing is that the toilet paper roll covers most of the plastic so you can hardly tell. UPDATE: The spring has lost its tension and is now sagging in the middle of the roll. The toilet paper itself now does not roll without strong tension, causing it to tear prematurely, etc. Unlucky. It's better to take a metal one and paint it yourself!
