I bought these to light up a display shelf and wanted to use them with a smart plug to add to my routine and not have an extra small remote lying around. Unfortunately, they do not work with a smart plug. Of course, if the plug is switched off, the light goes out as expected, but if the plug is switched on again, the light has to be switched on manually or with the supplied remote control. This also means the lights will revert to their default red color. I bought another set of bulbs to replace them and will look elsewhere to use that set. While the inability to use these bulbs with a smart plug is disappointing, I'm not deducting stars for this as they have not been claimed to work with a smart plug. I assumed they would work, so that's my fault. The reason I took off a star is because the remote control is infrared and therefore you have to point the remote control at the plug for it to work. Since most electrical outlets are at the bottom of walls and are often hidden behind tables, chairs, beds, etc., these devices are useless in many places. I plan to buy a USB extension cable so I can use it elsewhere in the house. The control would be better if it was on the opposite end of the light fixture, or even better if the remote control was radio frequency. Overall, the lighting works well, is bright, and offers many color options. The remote also has a 4-time timer function, as well as options for color changing, flashing, strobing, etc. My favorite option is dimming. You can dim the light to up to 5 different levels so you can decide how bright you want the light to be. Depending on your needs, these lights may be perfect for you.
