Comes with a very strong clamp mount but my desk required installation with a grommet and a 5/8" hole drilled at the top. I knew that from the beginning and am very happy with the result. The hole is covered by the base of the stand. The frame bar is very reliable. The design of the whole mechanism is solid, there is no backlash and no sagging in the joints. I had to tighten the wrists holding the monitors very tightly with the included Allen wrench to keep them from wobbling with my heavy 32" monitors, but I tightened just enough and they stay in place. There doesn't seem to be any danger of loosening the screws. with all the force I could muster with the Allen key provided. I set the crossbar as high as possible and got a >5" gap between the bottom of my monitors and my desktop. Comfortable viewing angle when sitting in a chair.
