Thoughtful design, durability issues, poor shipping protection

Let me start by saying that this is a really thoughtful design. Acrylic sheets have tabs and slots that allow you to easily connect parts. The pieces are then held together with thick white "gums" that fit over the tabs. No sane person should ask for instructions. The only difficulty is removing the opaque film from the acrylic. You can start this by using a sharp knife on the corner of each panel. Once you start it will peel off easily. Suckers are interesting. Each has a handle in the box that you twist to form a cup and create suction. In my case, I have an arch-fronted aquarium where the lid isn't fully open, so turning these knobs is a little awkward. Save the rubber bands and these panels are acrylic. If you drop one of the plates, you'll almost certainly break one of those ears. When I first bought this box, everything arrived in a padded plastic envelope and a couple of ears were broken. This is understandable, because a single layer of bubble wrap cannot protect them in any way. I requested a replacement which came with an envelope in an outer box. To my surprise, the plastic was torn around one of the slots, one of the hard plastic pieces for one of the suction cup assemblies was broken, and one of the rubber bands was broken. I ended up combining the undamaged parts of the two blocks to build a good one. Given this, I'm not only wondering about the delivery, but also about the quality control before shipment. When you put all the pieces together, you end up with a pretty nice box.
