A lot of oil on the rope

This sisal rope had a rather strong smell. There was some oil on it. I had to wash it in the washing machine about 5-6 times with soap, baking soda and vinegar to get it all out. Remarkably, this kept the rope in great shape, and once it was completely clean and odor-free (and dry, of course!), I taped it to the scratching post to attach it. Cats love her now that she is clean and installed.
