I liked them so much I ordered them again! I ordered them in blue and the color is exactly what I wanted: soft turquoise. They add a nice country touch without making any statement. Both orders arrived in perfect condition, trays neatly tied with rustic ribbon. You will make a great gift. Who doesn't need a tray set for serving, storing or displaying? The large shelf is ideal for magazines. I ended up using my bedside and living room environment to assemble tech devices. I use the small ones for coasters and candy or snack plates in the living room. When I use them for serving, they are very convenient to take with me. They are lightweight and the curved handles are comfortable for my fingers when carrying the trays. The curved handle is VERY hard to find on trays. As other reviewers have said, these trays can be stained. I like the tactile wood finish so I didn't use preservative. I rely on coasters, cymbals and liners to protect the finish. The wood is smooth, there are no splinters. They are well made and the sides fit tightly together. For the price, these trays really can't be beat! I've looked at trays in all price ranges, but they come in a matching set, they have curved handles, they're versatile, and if you're not applying a finish they just need an occasional dusting, like everything else in your house. If you like the look of these trays, you will love having them in your home.
