I am a licensed radio amateur and got this model new at a radio amateur flea market in a normal shop at a significantly lower price than the list price. It was 2 years ago, and yesterday I found the same model at another similar flea market with the same significant discount. I only use it for its weather band function as I can no longer find a car radio that can receive the weather band. The lithium-ion battery in this radio lasts for several months. It's small and strong enough to fit in a slot in your dashboard. I can fish it out, turn it on with one hand without looking, and turn on the local weather station loud and clear. It works decently as a 2M amateur transceiver on my local repeaters, but I have much better radios that I prefer for that. You can add better external antennas to this device or even build your own giant 2M antenna for your car or home if you know what you're doing.
