Feel free to buy them.

These are the only pickle balls we use in our 55+ year old community. We have a group of avid ball players who are passionate about the game and all agree these balls are the best.

Pros
  • The best in their niche
Cons
  • I have no bad feelings about it, it's just awesome

Pickleball to be proud of!

The best outdoor pickleballs. They are heavier which really helps in windy conditions. If you're not sure about the difference between indoor and outdoor pickleballs, I'll tell you. Outdoor balls have more holes than indoor balls. I bought Dura brand balls last year but they are much lighter and less durable than Onix balls. Still looking good after the summer season, while the dura balls are all worn down as expected, the plastic has rubbed on the cement.

Pros
  • Simple design
Cons
  • Boring packaging

It's actually a better ball, but it can't be used

This is a higher quality ball, but it's not USPA legal for tournament use. Pickleball is a replay and touch game. Obviously, Onyx is trying to control orb production. They produce a ball that is slightly heavier and stronger and cannot be used in sanctioned tournaments. If you are a casual player, better in the wind and longer. If you are a serious player, the difference in weight and the rebound of the racquet will not be the same.

Pros
  • Free for educational use
Cons
  • It's OK

DO NOT BUY - if you are just starting out or at all

Look - these balls are fine. I bought them because my mom was visiting and I finally decided to play her weird mini tennis game, which may or may not be named after a dog. And of course I fell in love and have now become a pickleball addict. But I joined the league and EVERY PERSON, now like 20 of them, refused those balls and refused to EVER play with them. People even went home for the ball. So even though they say ONIX and seem legit, BEGINNERS DON'T BUY IT. Nobody who plays will play with…

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • No work

The most durable ball on the market

This is my second purchase of 100 Onix Pure 2 Cucumber Balls for our pickleball group. The first 100 were bought 3 years ago and have played every 3 years all year round on three outdoor courts. We had some left but they were running out so we placed another order. Most of the first 100 balls ended up in people's pockets. I have only seen a few (4-5) that have really cracked and become unusable. Considering we play outside in winter, sometimes in teenage temperatures, we are very impressed with

Pros
  • Comfortable to use
Cons
  • Weight

This ball is not USAPA approved for tournament play.

This ball is not USAPA approved for tournament play. The description says yes, but it isn't. You can search the web for the latest legal list of balls as of 5/16/18 (or view photos) and I suggest you get one of these if you are a serious pickleball player. There are a few other ONIX balls on this approved list, but none of them are Pure 2 Outdoor. I bought these balls based on the description but after receiving them a friend told me they were unapproved and I sent them back. I'm more than…

  • Confident

  • Some Trouble

Without a doubt the best outdoor cucumber balls

I have actively tried four different brands. I only play outside. On a windy day when light balls fly away, this ball holds its position better. The sphere has two different sizes of precisely drilled holes. It is specially designed for outdoor play. It's a hard ball with higher bounce and more power than some of the other popular brands and really improves my serve. What I like most is the durability of the ball. I can use them twice as often as some brands I've tried that cost a little more…

Pros
  • Impressive
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product

I'm glad I have them because they are of high quality.

As always I paid full price like everyone else. And I almost bought fewer balls or cheaper balls. This was the right way for me because: (A) These are "street" balls, bigger ones. The internals aren't that great in terms of the experience of using them. Nobody on the tennis courts near me uses small indoor balls, probably because they're not that fun or comfortable to play with. (B) The color is right, those yellow balls. I see orange being used but I prefer yellow. (C) These balls bounce well.

Pros
  • Amazing
Cons
  • I won't say anything
