So I bought this camera to upgrade my D300. I've been in love with the D300 since I had it, even when I used the D3 in college. I'll leave the review of the original and just talk about the D300s. The camera is amazingly built, even better than the original, and that's saying a lot. everything about him gives me confidence that I will keep him. Image quality is phenomenal, with no noise, amazing dynamic range and an excellent ability to recover shadows and highlights in RAW files. The SD card slot also helps a lot. Now I can capture JPG files on it and view them on a MacBook Pro with SD slot and then edit the RAW files on my desktop. Having a dedicated Live View button is a good thing and allows you to maintain the shooting speed (S, CL, CH). You simply press the center of the multi selector to start the movie. not to mention that the picture quality is fantastic and focusing is very easy even while recording, since the screen is bright and very clear. As for the file size of the video, I couldn't find any information on the internet, so I'm posting it here for you to read. For a 30-second 720p clip, expect file sizes of up to 90MB, depending on the subject. An unfortunate thing and you can't save your settings from the D300 and import them into the 300s. All in all, after three days of using the camera and already shooting some serious footage, I have to say that this is even the best camera I expected and there's nothing it lacks.
