Still, I love computers.

This is my second MSI laptop (MSI Apache Pro), my experience with MSI was very good. My review of this laptop is mixed, but not because of the laptop itself, it's amazing. The reason I gave four stars is due to the lack of update information. The description says the SSD has been upgraded to 1TB, which doesn't tell you that with this upgrade you'll lose all the software that comes with MSI laptops. Some programs are viruses, some are not. For example, MSI has a SteelSeries keyboard with RGB lighting, but without the SteelSeries software you don't have control over the lighting schemes. Nvidia has software to give you better control over your gaming experience, but that software is lacking as well. The software is easy to find and download, but if you've never had a computer with this software, you probably don't know what to look for. It's too easy for them to reinstall the necessary software to make it go away. Steelseries, Nvidia GeForce Experience, Dragon Center and any other sound software they removed (I downloaded DTS) should be reinstalled or mentioned in the description. So you get the best possible keyboard, GPU, CPU and sound experience. I personally love the fact that SSDs and HDDs are so clean, I just think they should tell you what was removed so you can decide what to put back. My rating for the computer is 5 stars, the thing smokes my Apache Pro, I thought it was a beast. AP looks better with a black brushed steel finish. The Leopard's cooling system is MUCH better, and the overall size is smaller for the same screen size and the colors are brighter. I have about 100 games on Steam (Scum, Ark, The Crew 1 and 2, Rust.) and none of them make this thing hard to breathe. Don't get me wrong, MSI already heats up, but for some games I needed an additional external fan with hotspot. I would still prefer this updated version over the standard version. RAM and storage are worth it. Updated September 17, 2021. 6 months usage. As mentioned, I bought this laptop to replace my 2017 MSI AP, gave it to my 16 year old daughter and it's still my second best computer. in the house compared to my son's AMD gaming desktop and my wife's Dell desktop (very close to 3rd best) and the Dell 2-in-1 i3 touchscreen that I share with my son because the battery just doesn't becomes empty, but it's just heavy duty tablet IMHO. Either way, this car is still going strong for what it is. It gets very hot and definitely needs a cooling pad (I use Klim https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07NMBJVBG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1). I prefer performance over graphics, so I'm lowering the chart a notch, if not for noticeable performance then to reduce the heat. I also limit FPS to 65 or 35 depending on the game and how fast things are moving on screen (Farming sim FPS 35 with max graphics 50-54c, Battlefield V FPS 65 with graphics set to Peg or 2.75c). play ARK (mods installed) with 1000 binding (didn't reach max binding even at 8k meters), graphics on Ultra and FPS 35 and for me it's great. The computer works stably at 73s. (84-86c at 65 FPS with graphics down 2 levels)). This is a good, fast and reliable computer, but it gets very hot while playing, I agree because I need the portability of a laptop and I understand that yes and that comes with the size. My son's desktop runs at 53 degrees Celsius but it has 3 large fans and they are noisy and generate some heat.

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time
Cons
  • For old
