I had a Nikon Cool Pix and switched it to a Canon ELPH170. With Canon I don't have to choose a setting and it's much easier to switch from near to far and back. However, the videos get grainy and not as good as my old Nikon. The case feels cheap and grainy (Nikon had a nice silky, rubberized feel). I definitely don't like the Canon's flash placement as I keep accidentally covering it with my finger when holding it naturally while shooting. The Canon price was good and the quality of the photos is very good. The battery doesn't last as long as Nikon's, but I like that I can take it out of the camera to charge it.
