- First I got 2 packs of almost identical compression knee pads for about the same price (2 for $12.99). So first look at the prices. The vast majority of these compression sleeves are either thick like these (tight weave, almost like padding) or thin (like spandex-style cycling shorts). I generally prefer spandex style skinny pants if they can put the compression where it needs to be. Most of them are straight sleeve style and use even compression. However, since the joints are smaller than the surrounding muscles/tissues, the joints are the least protected. thicker fabrics get hot, but even cheap, thin fabrics can get hot if they're not made of breathable fabrics. I'm not a big fan of the non-slip silicone material, it just adds bulk. I wear them inside out and they don't fall down and they fit better. Nevertheless, it helps my knee a lot - both during training and when resting. Immobilizing the diseased or injured joint helps a little, but it doesn't help. Do not do well in a bent position, it is better to straighten your leg.
