Don't leave the remote outside
Indoor/outdoor remote control. The box in the fan is fine, but the remote itself can't get wet or fried, essentially rendering it useless and your fan inoperable until you remove the remote box from it. waste of money. You will then need to remove the electrical box from the fan to use it as it is built in. Do not worry. Just make longer pulls for the chains.
