Priming and sanding required
We needed these oversized covers and wanted to paint them the same color as the wall. The first coat will lift the structure of the wood, so sanding is required. It took 2-3 coats with intermediate sanding before they looked acceptable. However, some have minor flaws; I'm assuming this is a property of wood, not plastic or metal.
